We consider it essential to progress in the development of our company through new technical solutions to be offered to customers and new investments in machinery enabling us to keep indices of productivity at the best levels. All this with strong attention to everything around us , respecting the laws , the environment and ensuring health and safety in the workplace, which our employees have to preserve observing strict rules of behavior.
To achieve this aim Cartiera del Chiese is committed to promote inside his organization the following points:
  • develop and adopt standards and rules of behavior in all the sectors and applications closely linked to sustainable development
  • adopt and implement certified management systems for safety, health and environment
  • set goals for improving the performance already achieved through specific investments and ensuring them to constant monitoring by external bodies of international prestige
  • operate transparently giving evidence of the results achieved through the publication of measured values

COMPANY POLICY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY

of 7000 tons of oil , equivalent to 20,000 tons of CO 2
Paper industry is particularly energy-intensive : energy costs in Italian paper mills may even exceed 30 % of the total costs .
Energy efficiency has always been a primary goal for Cartiera del Chiese in order to improve the environmental sustainability of the production cycle and to strengthen its competitiveness on the market .
Thanks to important technology investments Cartiera del Chiese has gained during the years tangible results in this context with a progressive and continuous reduction in the consumption of primary energy, but keeping the same level of production
These efforts have been also rewarded by the GSE through the approval of various projects aimed to obtain white certificates .
In particular, the savings expected in the next 5 years, and obtained thanks to the latest actions taken on both the pulp preparation dept. and on the continuous machine pressing section (besides various heat recoveries), are nearly 7000 tons of oil equivalent approximately to 20,000 tons of CO 2

INTEGRATED CORPORATE POLICY (QUALITY, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT)

The Management of Cartiera del Chiese S.p.A. hereby sets forth its commitment to the application and development of an Integrated Management System within its Organisation, and defines its underlying principles. Cartiera del Chiese SPA has always believed that the foundations of business success lie in the quality of its products and the satisfaction of its stakeholders. In this declaration, the Management intends to establish the fundamental principles which allow the full achievement of these aims, in accordance with the regulatory framework. The degree of satisfaction of the internal and external stakeholders will therefore be monitored and assessed, identifying the areas for improvement and also guaranteeing the expected level of satisfaction, with constant adaptation to changes in the regulatory framework, the context in which the company operates and the relative risks. Moreover, with effect from 2016 the Company has also adopted a Corporate Governance Model compliant with Italian Legislative Decree 231/01, in order to prevent criminal offences in the categories envisaged by the Decree, for which the Company would be held responsible under administrative law. The special part of the Governance Model details and defines the procedures for activities to prevent criminal offences in relation to occupational health and safety (art. 25-g of Decree 231), against the environment (art. 25- of Decree 231) and the relative penalties, commercial fraud (art. 25-b of Decree 231), bribery of public sector officials (art. 24 of Decree 231) and corporate crimes (art. 25-c of Decree 231). The Corporate Governance Model was approved by the Board of Directors on 12/03/2018 together with the appointment of the Supervisory Body. It is considered of fundamental importance to implement an Integrated Management System which is:

compliant with the standards:
  • ISO 9001:2015, which establishes the requirements for the implementation of a quality system as a management tool, necessary to allow the company to be operated in a manner which ensures that the requirements established by the regulatory framework or required by customers are conformed to and complied with when realising the product, combining it with a complete level of service and information;
  • ISO 14001:2015, which establishes the requirements for implementation of an effective environmental management system;
  • UNI INAIL:2001 Guidelines which establish the requirements for the implementation of an effective occupational health and safety management system.

  • compliant with the regulatory framework with regard to:
  • Consumer safety and production health standards, with constant reference to the relevant national and international regulations;
  • Occupational health and safety, monitoring and updating the system with regard to the latest regulatory requirements;
  • Personal data protection;
  • Environmental protection.

  • Moreover, in addition to all relevant general and industry-specific regulatory requirements, the Management undertakes to comply with and satisfy:
  • all the requirements of the relevant standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, UNI INAIL Guidelines, FSC, PEFC, Blauer Engel)
  • benchmark industry standards
  • all National and International Labour Laws, including Italian Legislative Decree 81/08 on occupational health and safety, Legislative Decree 196/03 on personal data protection, and the Consolidation Law on the Environment

  • The effective implementation of an integrated system and continuous improvement of the company are only possible if the entire Cartiera del Chiese organisation:
  • adopts its contents and is engaged in the practical realisation of the declarations made in this Policy;
  • is clearly informed about the roles of the various function managers and the lines of communication between them;
  • engages with suppliers and contractors for the thorough monitoring of the quality characteristics of the raw materials, materials and services purchased;

  • and the Management, in particular:
  • implements the entire integrated management system: it is therefore responsible for defining the actions needed for its maintenance, verification and continual improvement, also by issuing and registering operational documents;
  • maintains an optimal climate within the company's organisation:
    • by constantly maintaining and improving conditions in the working environment, in terms of compliance with occupational health and safety requirements;
    • by providing workers with all material and training resources;
  • once the primary and supporting processes necessary for the company's operations have been identified, systematically monitors the effectiveness of the processes of primary importance for the achievement of performance targets set with the aid of suitable indicators.

  • In addition to these indicators, the Management will set its improvement targets on the basis of:
  • the stakeholders' requirements;
  • the outcomes of the analysis of the Integrated Management System's performance conducted during the review;
  • changes in the regulatory framework;
  • the update plans or projects it decides to implement;
  • the outcomes of internal and external audits;
  • the market's demands;
  • its code of ethics and the relevant company values.

  • Last but not least, during the Annual Review of the integrated system, the Management undertakes to:
  • assess its adequacy, and any opportunities for changes, also considering developments in the socioeconomic and regulatory framework, to enable the company to maintain a leading position on the international scene through the constant innovation and development of new products;
  • monitor this Policy to guarantee its continual maintenance and improvement.

  • The Management undertakes to make available adequate resources for the pursuance of the principles of this Corporate Policy, and to allow its consultation by Staff and contractors.
    The Management System Manager is also tasked with sending a copy of it to anyone requesting it, and for recording its distribution.
    All staff, each employee within his or her operating context, are called upon to contribute through their work to the implementation of the Corporate Policies, by complying with the procedures and instructions established in the Management System, in order to prevent any of the forms of criminal offence envisaged.
    This Policy is subject to periodic review by the Management, during its System Reviews.
    Specific objectives in line with the Management's approach as set out in these points are defined over time in order to improve the company's performance.

    1960

    Year of Foundation

    CDC was founded in the 60s by families Fenotti and Comini with the intent to diversify what was the main activity IN THE STEEL INDUSTRY.
    From the beginning the mill was managed and developed with dedication by Mr Enzo Fenotti who still leads the company as President

     
    1970

    Waste Paper

    A key step was the decision in the 70s to adapt the production to selected waste paper as raw material, a choice that will be successful for the years to follow

     
    1973

    First Line of extrusion

    The first Line of extrusion with 2 tandem extruders was installed in 1973. This gave the chance to produce sandwich complex, special complex with paper and alu foil and 4 layers compounds.

     
    1990

    Second Line of extrusion

    The installation of the second line specific for the coupling of heavier papers and intended for the production of Sandwich compounds, was decided in 1990

     
    2000

    Third line cm 270

    Finally in 2000 the third line with a final trim of cm 270 in order to supply the market of reels wrapping, corrugated industry , solidboard and insulation

    Nowadays CDC is a reality employing 150 people with 3 production sites located between the towns of Montichiari and Calcinato ,
    producing 60,000 tons of brown sack-kraft paper and 45,000 tons (approximately 500 million m2) of paper complex

     
    2016

    Paper production and Converting

    it was decided to build a new plant nearby the mill in Montichiari where a first warehouse of 8.000 m2 will be created, and where the paper production and converting activities can be developed in the years to come

     
    2018

    The new warehouse of Cartiera del Chiese is now working/operating

    The new CDC plant located in Montichiari is now a reality. Initially used as a finished product and raw material warehouse, the paper and converting activity could be developed in the years to come.
